Dhaulagiri (8167m), and Gangapurna. This course from Pokhara to the Modi Khola and on to Annapurna glacial sanctuary allows for an intimate view of the Annapurna Peaks. It is passes through dense stands of rhododendron and bamboo, up and down stone steps, past natural hot springs, and into the high country. The pleasures of trekking are compounded by the diversity of experiences one will have in the Annapurna Sanctuary—passing through the agricultural lowlands, villages of lively Gurung and Magar culture, and through the highest and youngest mountain range in the world. From Kathmandu trekkers can fly or drive to Pokhara. From Pokhara it is an hour by road before embarking on the trek. There are a variety of teahouses/hotels available in the region.
